Laugh

All Aboard the Meme Express – Thursday, January 22, 2009

Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In first appeared on NBC Television on January 22, 1968. Hosted by comedians Dan Rowan and Dick Martin, the variety show featured many up-and-coming comedy stars, such as Ruth Buzzi, Judy Carne, Richard Dawson, Henry Gibson, Goldie Hawn, Arte Johnson, Tiny Tim, Lily Tomlin, Flip Wilson, JoAnne Worley and more.

Several one-liners from Laugh-In became iconic popular culture quips:

“Here come da judge.”

“Look that up in your Funk and Wagnalls.”

“One ringy-dingy. Two ringy-dingy.”

“Say Goodnight, Dick.”

“Sock it to me.”

“Very interesting. But stupid.”

“You bet your bippy.”

“And that’s the truth.”

Today’s Meme Express prompt is “laugh.”

Pick one of the Laugh-In quotes (listed above), or write about something that makes you laugh. How about posting a photo or an illustration that you find funny.

Perhaps this concept will inspire you to create a drawing, a poem, a short story, or a journal entry. Then return here to leave a comment with your link. (Be sure to include a link to the Meme Express. Grab our train graphic from the sidebar for your link, if you want.)
