With the help of her personal teacher Annie Sullivan and an abundance of determination, Helen Keller overcame her hearing-impairedness and sight-impairedness and learned to read, write and communicate. Helen Keller became a nationally and internationally known speaker and author, as well as a significant historical figure.
Actress Patty Duke Astin portrayed Helen Keller in the 1962 motion picture, The Miracle Worker.
