All Aboard the Meme Express – Thursday, September 25, 2008
Today is National One-Hit-Wonder Day in the U.S. Although the origins of this holiday are unclear, the Meme Express prompt of the day is simple: one-hit wonders.
What is a one-hit wonder? According to the online Urban Dictionary, a one-hit wonder is
“…a band/group that has one breakthrough hit that people remember after usually years of making underground music. They may try to launch more chart-friendly songs on the back of their one song that will fail to have any impact. [A one-hit wonder] will fade back into obscurity within a month only appearing for the odd television appearance.”
Use the image, definition and question . . . or not. See what hits you.
What is your favorite one-hit wonder?
Post your poem, story, song, photo or other entry on your blog. (Be sure to include a link to the Meme Express. Grab our train graphic from the sidebar for your link, if you want.)
Then come back here, and post a comment with a link to your own entry.
