Got the Blues?

On October 29, 1929, the New York Stock Exchange crashed, heralding the Great Depression. More than 16 million shares were traded frantically, as prices dropped to record lows. Needless to say, the difficult economic times gave way to the blues for many individuals and families.

Billie Holiday’s 1956 single, “Lady Sings the Blues,” captures a similar sentiment:

Today’s Meme Express prompt is The Blues.

Here are a few optional questions, to jump-start your inspirational engine:

Have you ever had the blues?

What sorts of occurrences might cause you to feel blue?

How can you beat the blues?

Do you enjoy blues music?

Who is your favorite blues artist?

What is your most loved shade of blue?

Perhaps this concept will inspire you to create a drawing, a poem, a short story, or a journal entry. Then return here to leave a comment with your link. (Be sure to include a link to the Meme Express. Grab our train graphic from the sidebar for your link, if you want.)
