Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States, was shot on March 30, 1981. As the President recovered from the assassination attempt, Alexander Haig, then U.S. Secretary of State, was quoted as saying, “I am in control here.”
The press and the American public seized upon these words. Eventually, Haig resigned his position. Herein are the origins of:
