Wednesday

Thankful

All Aboard the Meme Express – Wednesday, November 26, 2008

On November 26, 1789, George Washington, the first American President, declared the date to be the first national Thanksgiving Day. From that date on, U.S. Presidents declared a national Thanksgiving Day holiday. Finally, in 1863, President Abraham Lincoln officially proclaimed the fourth Thursday in November as the annual Thanksgiving Day.

On this date, Americans everywhere are reminded to recall the Plymouth Pilgrims, their Mayflower ocean journey and the Divine Providence that established their little community in the New World. May we follow the example of the original American Pilgrims and be thankful for the many blessings we enjoy.

Today, the Meme Express prompt is simple: “thankful.”

For what are you thankful today?

Do you celebrate Thanksgiving?

How do you celebrate?

Do you like to eat turkey?

Have you ever seen a wild turkey?

How about those bowl games?

How might you consider yourself to be a pilgrim?

The Meme Express will not post a new prompt

on Thanksgiving Day (11-27-08).

Please feel free to post to any prompt from our archives,

if you wish.
