Masterpiece

All Aboard the Meme Express – Saturday, November 1, 2008

It’s a Masterpiece.

On November 1, 1512, a 37-year-old artist known as Michelangelo revealed his masterpiece of sacred Renaissance artwork, the Sistine Chapel (“Capella Sistine) ceiling in the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican in Rome. Commissioned by the Pope (Julius II), the work took Michelangelo four years to complete.

Today’s Meme Express prompt is masterpiece.

How might you use this in a blog entry?

Here are a few optional questions, to jump-start your inspirational engine:

What is your favorite masterpiece?

If you could create a masterpiece, what would it be?

What is your favorite form of art?

Do you love to paint, sculpt or pursue other creative arts?

Have you ever been to the Sistine Chapel?

What’s on your ceiling?

Have you ever felt you might be in over your head?

What life-legacy would you like to leave for those you love?

Use the questions . . . or not. Use the artwork . . . or not. Use your imagination.

Perhaps this concept will inspire you to create a drawing, a poem, a short story, or a journal entry. Then return here to leave a comment with your link. (Be sure to include a link to the Meme Express. Grab our train graphic from the sidebar for your link, if you want.)
